PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The Analyst, Resource and Capacity Planning role enables decision‑making by aligning demand and resource strategies to deliver an integrated, forward‑looking view of network capacity and capability. The role leads the development and evolution of planning models, scenario analyses, and strategic insights to assess alternative models and articulate the value of change.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Prepare monthly, annual, and multi‑year resource planning forecasts, including train and crew starts, locomotive productivity and requirements, track capacity needs, and key performance indicators
Analyze operational data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with business performance assumptions
Work with business partners to identify trends, support decision‑making, and improve forecast accuracy over time
Maintain and enhance planning models, applying strong analytical skills to resolve data or modeling issues and recommend process improvements
Conduct ad hoc and scenario analysis to assess incremental growth and capacity impacts, coordinating with cross‑functional teams to confirm supply plans are achievable
Produce variance reporting and scorecards comparing corporate targets to the rolling forecast and actual results
Collect, validate, and improve data quality, summarizing findings and providing clear insights and recommendations to stakeholders

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Economics, Mathematics or a related field
1 - 3 years of relevant work experience; experience in rail, transportation, or supply chain is an asset, but not required.
Working knowledge of forecasting concepts, including key performance indicators, demand, and supply fundamentals
Strong computer skills, including advanced Excel; experience with databases and standard word‑processing tools. Familiarity with SQL is considered an asset.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills
Proven ability to use Excel to manipulate and analyze large data sets

Management Conductor Program
Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
