PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The North American Benefits team is seeking a Benefits Analyst to provide day to day administration and delivery of employee benefits in Canada and the U.S, ensuring a high-quality employee experience and strong governance of benefit programs.Â
This role acts as a key point of contact for benefit inquiries, escalations, and grievances, providing expert guidance on benefit plans, including Short‑Term and Long‑Term Disability. This position partners closely with benefit providers and internal stakeholders to resolve issues, supports annual re‑enrollment and plan design changes, and ensures accurate financial and system administration through vendor invoice processing, audits, and data analysis. The role requires a high degree of confidentiality, attention to detail, and collaboration to ensure benefit programs are administered accurately, compliantly, and effectively.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Manage Canadian and U.S. benefits inboxes, triaging employee inquiries, escalations, and grievances from employees, managers, HR business partners and other stakeholders.
Interpret and apply collective agreements, benefit plan policies, and contracts to investigate, analyze, and resolve benefit related issues.
Provide timely, accurate, and clear guidance to employees on benefit programs, including Short‑Term and Long‑Term Disability, while delivering an exceptional customer service experience.
Partner with benefit providers and vendors to investigate and resolve benefit issues.
Support annual benefits re‑enrollment and plan design changes in Canada and the U.S., including employee communications, system testing and audits.
Process monthly benefit vendor invoices and ensure timely and accurate payment.
Conduct regular audits of system interfaces to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and expected functionality; manage corrections as required.
Maintain detailed and up‑to‑date process documentation for benefit administration procedures
Provide ad hoc data analysis to support benefit audits, reporting, and scorecard metrics.
Handle highly confidential and sensitive employee information with discretion and integrity.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Undergraduate degree in Human Resources or other relevant fields
Group Benefits Associate (GBA), Compensation Management Specialist (CMS), Retirement Plans Associate (RPA) and/or Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) Designation is preferred
Minimum 2 years work experience in HR, Canadian or US Benefits, or related role would be an asset
Experience in working with HRIS systems, specifically SAP and Spinifex
Moderate to Advanced skill in MS Office – Excel, PowerPoint Â
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skillsÂ
Strong analytical, problem solving, judgement and decision-making skills Â
A demonstrable drive to understand and solve complex problems.Â

Management Conductor Program
Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
