Duties:
* **Safely perform local Pickup \& Deliveries from warehouse to warehouse; rail to warehouse and warehouse back to rail.**
* **Transport intermodal containers from rail yard to rail yard.**
* Perform routine inspections on vehicles and report any and all mechanical and safety issues and to management and safety. Keep company equipment in a neat and presentable state.
* Receive instructions from dispatch and management regarding each day’s truck transport service.
* Collect and verify delivery instructions.
* Ensure all equipment pulled is in good condition and roadworthy without fail.
* Communicate any foreseeable delays in arrivals or failures to complete loads.
* Safely maneuver trucks into designated spots.
* Follow all BNSF and UP railyard rules. Speed limits, stop signs, etc.
* Document and log all work activities, meal and rest periods and hours spent driving and retain receipts.
* Provide all necessary documentation (manifests) and information to dispatch or office staff in a timely manner and/or upon request.
* Park trucks and your personal vehicle in the parking spot designated by the safety department.
* Report all accidents/incidents, defects and violations to dispatch, safety or HR immediately and complete an incident report when required.
* Attend all company meetings and trainings.
* Maintain a clean and safe driving record.
* Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, hours of service, and meal/break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures.
* Ensure safety regulations are followed per company policy and all government agencies.
* Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
This job constantly drives/operates a truck/container on the road/highway/railyards. This role routinely sits in a stationary position 80%. The person in this position frequently exchanges communication with dispatchers to obtain accurate pick up or delivery information. Constantly works in outdoor weather conditions. Constantly ascends/descends (climbing in and out of) a truck, identifies road conditions and may remove and install mechanical equipment.
