Job Description
**Conductor / Backup Locomotive Engineer**
We are currently seeking a dependable and safety\-focused individual to join our team as a Conductor / Backup Locomotive Engineer. As a key member of the rail operations team at Port of Tucson, this full\-time role is essential in supporting the safe and efficient movement of inbound and outbound rail traffic, as well as overall yard operations. The ideal candidate brings experience in rail or heavy equipment operations, strong communication skills, and the ability to support both ground operations and locomotive functions as needed.
**Primary Responsibilities**
· Perform groundwork including coupling and uncoupling rail cars
· Set brakes and ensure proper train securement during operations
· Maintain clear two\-way communication with the Engineer during movements
· Assist in the safe delivery and removal of rail products to customers
· Grease track switches and support routine yard maintenance
· Step in as Backup Locomotive Engineer when required to support operations
· Complete accurate paperwork and documentation related to daily operations
· Uphold all safety protocols and compliance standards
· Perform other duties as assigned
**Candidate Profile**
· Experience in rail yard operations or heavy equipment operation preferred
· Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with a team
· High attention to detail, especially regarding safety procedures and documentation
· Ability to work independently while coordinating with others during operations
· Reliable, punctual, and adaptable in a fast\-paced environment
· Willingness to learn locomotive operations and take on expanded responsibilities
· Comfortable working in outdoor environments in various weather conditions
· Ability to lift, bend, and perform physical tasks associated with the role

**Work Days**: Monday–Friday
**Hours**: 6:00 AM – 3:30 PM
**Pay Rate**: $21\-23, Full\-Time Hourly Position, eligible for health benefits including medical, dental, supplemental insurance, 401k matching along with paid holidays and PTO.
Pay: $21\.00 \- $23\.00 per hour
