**Fueling Success in this Role:**
VP Racing is hiring a full\-time **Director of Transportation** to lead and optimize transportation across our internal fleet, over\-the\-road carriers, and rail network. You’ll partner with Operations, Fleet Safety, Regional Managers, IT, and Accounting to drive efficient, compliant, and cost\-effective freight execution. This role will be based at our **San Antonio, Texas Corporate Headquarters** location (10205 Oasis Drive San Antonio, TX 78216\).
Reporting directly to the CFO, this role takes a data\-driven approach to transportation strategy, carrier negotiations, modal optimization, and systems implementation. You’ll lead or support the rollout of a freight execution system integrated with NetSuite, while delivering analytical insights that shape operational and financial decisions.
**What You'll Do:**
* Manage day\-to\-day transportation execution across the internal fleet, common carriers, and rail network
* Develop and execute transportation strategies that balance cost, service, capacity, and risk
* Evaluate and optimize the mix of company\-owned fleet versus third\-party carriers
* Source, qualify, and manage relationships with motor carriers, brokers, Class I railroads, short lines, and transload providers
* Negotiate freight rates, accessorial charges, service levels, and insurance requirements
* Direct rail movements end\-to\-end, including railcar ordering, placement, release, dwell management, and billing
* Mitigate rail demurrage, storage, and accessorial exposure through proactive coordination and data analysis
* Partner with Fleet Safety to keep transportation operations aligned with regulatory and insurance requirements
* Lead or support the implementation of a freight execution or transportation management system integrated with NetSuite
* Collaborate with IT and Accounting to ensure accurate freight costing, accruals, reporting, and system controls
* Analyze transportation data to surface cost\-reduction opportunities and service improvements
* Build and maintain transportation KPIs and dashboards for Operations and executive leadership
* Lead variance analysis on freight and transportation spend
