PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Are you ready to lead, drive excellence, and inspire positive change? As a Division Engineer, you will oversee the safety and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) compliance of critical railroad infrastructure—including tracks, bridges, and buildings—across a dynamic territory spanning from Beaumont, to Laredo, TX. In this pivotal role, you will manage a team of Roadmasters, ensuring that engineering and maintenance standards are consistently met and exceeded. This is an excellent opportunity to make a lasting impact on transportation safety while growing your leadership skills in a dynamic environment. This position may be headquartered in Beaumont, TX, Dallas, TX, Rosenberg, TX, Laredo, TX or Shreveport, LA office locations.Â

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Plans and implements accurate job procedures to promote safe work practices
Works with Purchasing to develop contracts for track repair and monitor budgets
Responsible for administration of safety action plan for Track department
Develop and complete annual safety plans
Solicits quotes from equipment and material suppliers and purchasing to ensure the best price and availability
Customer service focus and prioritization to meet partner expectations
Understands the relevant business metrics and applies them to develop a culture of operational efficiency that builds teams of high performing, engaged and empowered operational leaders
Identifies when a rule/regulation policy has been violated and has one-on-one accountability conversations with the individual who has not met expectations
Accountable for the investigation of train accidents in main track and sidings, including the timely filing of cause
Ensure infrastructure damage costs are reported and consistent with regulations for all train accidents

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or general equivalency
; bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution strongly preferred
Â
Minimum of 10 years of progressive railroad experience, demonstrating a strong track record of effectively leading and managing complex, results-oriented projects and programs
5 + years of leadership and managerial experience, including a proven history of effectively managing teams and operatioal direction
Must possess a valid driver's licenseÂ
Thorough understanding of railway track safety regulations and industry standards
Experienced in interpreting and applying the Maintenance of Way Employees Division (MWED) collective bargaining agreement to daily operations
Provide emergency response support as part of an on-call rotation (typically every other week) to ensure 24/7 operational continuity

Management Conductor Program
Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
