PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Engineering team in St. Paul is seeking a Manager of Production to lead track construction and maintenance-of-way operations while driving safety, service, productivity, and operational excellence. This role oversees union employees, coordinates resources, manages workflows, and ensures all work is completed in compliance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and collective bargaining agreements. The ideal candidate will bring leadership experience in railway operations, construction, manufacturing, or a similar production environment, with railway experience and expertise in thermite or flash butt welding preferred. This is an opportunity for a hands-on, results-driven leader to develop teams, improve performance, and deliver critical infrastructure projects safely and efficiently.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Mentor an average of 12 direct reports to improve their efficiency and hold accountability when needed
Review planned capital work, confirms material, and execution requirements
Ensure CPKC regulatory compliance for respective track projects
Develop and implement work processes and changes with your team that achieve continuous improvement
Promote and ensure adherence to CPKC policies, safety practices, and procedures across all team members and direct reports, fostering a culture of safety and accountability
Evaluate planned capital work, validate material readiness, and confirm execution strategies to ensure seamless project delivery and alignment with organizational objectives

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or general equivalency
Valid driver’s license
Minimum of 2 years’ track experience
5+ years in thermite or flash butt welding
100% travel (expenses are covered by CPKC), territory covers St. Paul, MN to Bensenville, IL
Capability to lead a project plan/schedule
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire teams to achieve goals
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Management Conductor Program
Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
