PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Step into a leadership role overseeing critical Signals & Communications (S&C) operations that keep CPKC’s network safe, reliable, and efficient across Eastern Ontario. As the Manager, Signals & Communication Operations based in Smith Falls, ON you’ll lead skilled teams, optimize system performance, and drive continuous improvement in a dynamic rail environment. POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Lead Signals and Communications field teams to deliver safe reliable operations
Plan prioritize and execute maintenance inspections and corrective work
Monitor system performance and resolve outages to minimize service disruption
Coordinate track access and work windows with Operations and Engineering
Ensure compliance with company standards safety rules and regulatory requirements
Manage contractors materials and budgets to meet cost and timeline targets
Drive continuous improvement root cause analysis and best practice adoption
Develop schedules coach talent and build a high performance safety culture

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma
2+Â years of railroad industry experience in Signals & Communications
Valid driver’s license
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and respond to after hours emergencies
Ability to meet all safety critical medical and drug testing requirements as applicable

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Medical and Drug Testing
This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company drug test is required. Post hire qualification drug testing may also be required.

Management Conductor Program
Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
