PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Join our Signal and Communications (S&C) Engineering – Project Management team and lead a portfolio of capital projects valued up to $50 million for CPKC Signals & Communications. Based in Kansas City, MO you will manage all aspects of project delivery—including estimating, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning—primarily across the United States, with occasional involvement in Canada and Mexico. Collaborating with internal teams and external partners, you’ll drive successful outcomes and report directly to the Director of S&C Program Management. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on railway communications infrastructure in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Ensure capital projects are delivered according to established scope, budget, schedule, and desired outcomes
Develop project scopes and coordinate key activities, such as site surveys, stakeholder input, and pre-design meetings
Manage project cost estimates, prepare funding submissions, and oversee financial planning including cash flow and variance reporting
Collaborate with stakeholders to create execution plans and schedule milestones, supporting effective project management and tracking
Compile and distribute comprehensive project reports, and facilitate regular review meetings to monitor progress
Administer third-party service contracts by defining requirements, soliciting bids, and handling purchase orders and invoices
Supervise procurement, logistics management, and reporting for project materials, working with both suppliers and internal inventory teams
Foster partnerships and support project development in coordination with other railroad organizations
Proactively manage project risks, implement change requests in accordance with protocols, and assist with accounting duties like invoice review and accruals
Maintain accurate records of project assets and locations, generate required reports, support documentation standards, and collaborate on product improvements with standards teams

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
High Electrical background with a minimum of five years’ hands-on experience in electrical design and/or installation
Professional Engineer (P. Eng) designation is an asset
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent of 3 years of practical experience in managing projects
Background in railroad or transportation sectors, with knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations (such as Federal Railroad Administration, Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Department of Transportation)
Demonstrated experience and knowledge with S&C operations, maintenance, and construction projects
Proficiency in Power BI, SAP, Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, and FileMaker Pro
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Management Conductor Program
