**ABOUT THE ROLE**
Amrize, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Rail Brakeman to support the Aggregate Production Operations in Bladensburg, MD. The position is primarily responsible safely performing railcar switching, coupling, and positioning to support the loading and unloading of aggregate materials. This mid\-level role requires prior rail or industrial experience, strong safety awareness, and the ability to work outdoors while coordinating closely with plant and yard operations to ensure efficient rail movement.
**WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH**
* Safely couple and uncouple railcars for loading and unloading of aggregate materials, including stone, sand, and gravel.
* Operate hand brakes, switches, and track controls to position railcars within the plant yard.
* Conduct pre\-movement inspections of railcars to ensure mechanical integrity and compliance with safety regulations.
* Coordinate with plant operators, yard crews, and locomotive engineers to manage efficient railcar movement and placement.
* Monitor loading operations to ensure proper weight distribution and securement of materials.
* Maintain clear communication via radio and hand signals to ensure safe switching operations.
* Follow all company safety policies, OSHA standards, and railroad operating procedures to prevent incidents and maintain a safe work environment.
* Responsible for unloading railcars (approximately 70% of the role) and inspecting the unloading conveyor system to ensure safe and efficient operations.
