Your future starts here.   PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: The Specialist Sourcing – Engineering leads end-to-end sourcing activities for the Engineering portfolio, managing the full procurement lifecycle from intake and RFPs through contract execution and close-out. The role partners with internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure governance compliance, negotiate commercial terms, manage vendor performance, maintain contract coverage, and support business needs. It also focuses on delivering value through cost savings, rebates, early payment discounts, supplier development, and continuous improvement initiatives.   This position can be based in Calgary or Kansas City.   POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES: Lead end-to-end strategic sourcing activities for the Engineering portfolio, including intake, scope development, market analysis, sourcing strategy, RFP execution, supplier evaluation, negotiations, contract execution, Ariba publishing, and contract close-out Develop and maintain expertise in Engineering sourcing categories, including spend analysis, supplier landscape, contract coverage, performance management, and future business requirements Facilitate competitive sourcing events and support bid evaluations, business case development, supplier recommendations, and award decisions Lead commercial and contractual negotiations in partnership with Legal and Risk, ensuring appropriate terms, risk allocation, insurance requirements, and compliance provisions are incorporated into agreements Establish, onboard, and manage qualified Engineering suppliers, including capability assessments and compliance reviews related to ISNetworld, EBIX, eRailSafe, and other governance requirements Manage the contract lifecycle to ensure adherence to commercial terms, service levels, rebates, pricing agreements, penalties, purchase order alignment, and contract administration requirements Provide responsive support to business stakeholders through purchase order approvals, contract renewals, supplier issue resolution, sourcing guidance, and procurement best practices Monitor supplier performance and operational continuity through regular performance reviews, risk mitigation activities, volume rebate tracking, CPI-based cost escalation assessments, and supplier development initiatives Ensure compliance with procurement policies, governance controls, supplier standards, accounting requirements, and reporting obligations, escalating non-compliance where necessary Drive value creation through total cost of ownership analysis, savings initiatives, rebates, early payment discounts, process improvements, and accurate tracking of Synergy and Key Initiative results Resolve complex sourcing, supplier, contractual, and governance issues by balancing cost, service, safety, operational requirements, supplier capability, and organizational risk while partnering closely with Engineering, Operations, Finance, Legal, and Risk teams   POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Law, Finance, or a related field preferred; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, procurement governance, or commercial management, preferably within engineering, rail, infrastructure, construction, maintenance, services, materials, or other heavy industry environments Proven ability to lead end-to-end sourcing and RFP processes, including sourcing strategy development, supplier evaluation, business case preparation, and commercial negotiations Strong experience managing contracts and supplier relationships, including contract administration in Ariba, purchase order review in SAP/Ariba, supplier performance management, and contract renewal planning Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with Legal, Risk, Engineering, Operations, Finance, and external suppliers while ensuring compliance with procurement policies, governance requirements, supplier onboarding standards, and applicable training programs     WHAT CPKC HAS TO OFFER: Flexible and competitive benefits package Competitive company pension and/or retirement plans Employee share purchase plan Performance incentive plan Annual fitness subsidy Part-time studies program   PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: Background Investigation Criminal history check Education verification Professio...
