**A day in the life...**
**As a Right of Way Track Laborer,** you will install, maintain, and repair railway tracks, switches, and ties to ensure safe train operations.
Requirements:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. * **Track Maintenance:** Replacing rail, ties, spikes, and joints, as well as fixing track geometry (alignment and gauge).
* **Component Repair:** Installing and repairing track switches, frogs, and rail joints, and lubricating rail curves.
* **Manual/Machine Labor:** Using power tools (drills, saws) and heavy equipment (bed tamping machines) to maintain ballast and track stability.
* **Right\-of\-Way Maintenance:** Cutting brush, clearing debris, cleaning ballast, and clearing snow/ice from switches and crossings.
* **Safety Compliance:** Adhering to strict Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and company safety rules.

**Physical Demands**

* **Physical Demand:** Must be able to lift, push, and pull materials weighing 50\-65 lbs. or more.
* **Environment:** Working outdoors in all weather conditions (extreme heat/cold).
* **Hours:** Irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and on\-call for emergency repairs.
